Real Estate is my encore career...
Originally from Northern California, I moved to San Diego to finish college. Although I wanted to be an architect, the job outlook for graduates prompted me to pursue another talent, writing. For years I worked as a technical writer, manager, and trainer at finance, military, and technology-based companies in San Diego and Silicon Valley.
Always interested in real estate, I tracked markets wherever I lived and traveled. Visits to new towns meant stopping by local realty offices to explore listings and trends. As my knowledge increased, I developed a knack for predicting the next up-and-coming towns and market trends. Naturally, others asked me for opinions and insights. Buying and selling homes for my primary residences gave me experience as a client, understanding the process from loan application to closing.
Never giving up on architecture, I continue studying and reading monthly editions of Architectural Record (a trade publication) from cover to cover. I'm a fan of every home style from Craftsman to Spanish to Mid-Century Modern.
In 2014, I began tracking Pacific Northwest (PNW) real estate markets, considering relocation. After visiting friends and family here for decades, I knew the area well and loved hiking, biking, and camping in the PNW.
In June 2017, I took a sebatical and traveled across the United States in a Silverado HD3500 dually towing a new Vanleigh Vilano 5th-wheel RV. What began as a 12-month trek across the country to see National Parks, historical architecture, cultural heritage sites, artisinal wineries and distilleries, and foodie destinations turned into a 2-year nomadic life-time experience. Many wonderful experiences and remarkable photographs. I travelled to 45 states and extensively in PNW coastal and mid-state areas.
In December 2019, I returned to San Diego for a few months of planning, then relocated to Portland area in the spring of 2020. After 9 months of job interviews and low-salary offers for writer employment, I refocused my job search in the Seattle area. In less than a month, I received an excellent offer and moved to Bellevue. However, several years later when I was ready to purchase a home, I was priced out of the market. Housing prices doubled then tripled. So, I decided to move south to Vancouver, where home prices were reasonable (though the market was hot and extremely competitive). After offers on 11 properties, the 12th one was accepted! I moved to Vancouver in April 2022 and worked remotely for a tech company.
My next life goal was to pursue a real estate career. In March 2025, I passed the state and national real estate exams with high scores on my first attempt. Combining my passion for real estate and helping others, I feel blessed when assisting others achieve their goals through real estate.
Communication is a critical skill for real-estate brokers. Working with clients is part of my professional DNA. My career as a technical communicator prepared me for the challenges of representing clients, understanding requirements, and negotiating professionally. I worked with high-profile clients representing tech companies that hired our teams. From sales presentations to contract completion, I ensured that clients were satified with our services and deliverables.
Along the way, I mastered interior and exterior design, working on my own projects, then consulting and designing with others.
With these complimentary skills and talents, my vision allows me to see potential and opportunity that others miss.
When you work with me, you're hiring a realtor who provides a comprehensive and multi-talented approach to home buying and selling.
